I remember my father buying a Christmas tree here, in the green grocers around 1964 when I was very young. Also used to buy a portion of chips from the chip shop on the way home from school.
I remember Alvin Stardust's mum owned a cafe here and I got his signature for my sister Tracy.
I remember walking through here many times as child and adult. We used to walk from Sugden Avenue where I grew up and where my parents had bought a small bungalow in 1957, down to the town in bare feet! It used to take around 25 minutes to walk it. We elite from Rayleigh Sweyne were already on the bus when it got to the Broadway just no room for the other passengers. Always got a cup of tea in the Arcade Cafe.
